With Data picking up the Cabin Crew’s ‘Star To Fall’ I’m not sure if it’s a case of very good or incredibly poor timing for De La Cruz to use the same Boy Meets Girl ‘Waiting For A Star To Fall’ sample. Indeed if you throw an even more pop-orientated version by the Sunset Strippers into the equation and it really is a case of buses coming along in threes! As to the version in hand: take a groove built from the same blueprint as ‘Call On Me’ – pure hands-in-the-air stuff – and a bassline that smacks of Bangalter & Falcon’s once-unique-now-over-played Gallic style. May the best version win.
