If artistically the girls’ last album ‘Destiny’s Fulfilled’ was a disappointment, ‘Soldier’ is unquestionably a strong choice to come out as next single. Maurice Joshua goes for his classic 4/4 treatment making full use of the jazz-funk guitar; you know what to expect from this long-time pillar of US house (128 BPM). On the other hand Danny Howells & Dick Trevor opt for a laidback vibe with a balearic down-tempo re-rub that recalls a bit Slam’s early remixes of US divas (99). As a bonus you get Peter Rauhofer’s muscly interpretation of ‘Lose My Breath’ and you feel you’re instantly transported in New York (129).
