Further affirmation of how the sometimes-abused electro explosion of a couple of years still managed to hang more of the genre’s original essence on the often bare skeleton of pounding modern techno. ‘Funk Asylum’ demonstrates how this is usually in the riff department as a clanging synth motif dangles aboard the charging, bass-heavy beast below. Then ‘Never Look Back’ hoists a more shimmering breed of synth mutant up the rectum of a more energised, darker outing. Could well pickle the right places.
