CASBAH 73
MOODS AND GROOVES
HITOP

Long time DJ and record dealer in Madrid, it’s taken Oli Stewart AKA Casbah 73 four years to bring his debut album to the market, namely because he’s been taking time to ensure that any samples used fuse well with the music.  The result is a polished blend of afro-funk, jazzy instrumentals and sweaty disco workouts that sounds so authentic it almost comes across like a collection of long-forgotten rare groove classics rather than a new album.  It moves through full-tilt boogie such as “How Long” through to the funked-up jazz of “Kaldi’s Brew” via full-on house moments like “The Way I Am”.  People who like their music with that raw sounding organic feel circa labels like Tru Thoughts will be wanting to investigate this without hesitation.
