Created entirely out of Carl Craig’s future thinking this three cd set celebrates the notion of creating a journey through the power of music. Starting at cd one which throws you sideways via the dirty acid of Kyle Hall & Kero’s ‘Zug Island’ the blend soon settles into a mesmerising sequence of sounds that never feel less than funky, and never short of invigorating. Original music comes care of Huxley, Loco Dice, and Egyptian Lover with remixes appearing from the likes of Martinez Brothers, Moodyman and Carl Craig himself. Touching on most bases from Disco to Electro and inevitably Techno this sees his choice of what’s currently hot combine into one. The next CD is an entirely different statement with a selection of music that has inspired him and can’t really argue with numbers from The Temptations, Prince Jammy, E Dancer and even Muddy Waters to boot. The final disc is another matter again labelled, ‘Meditation’ and takes its inspiration from David Lynch and his Transcendental Mediation techniques. Which perhaps isn’t quite what you might think at first but is actually a slow-burning, pondering on electronic sound that’s definitely enlightening in mood, cinematic in scope and is constructed purely from new thought processes.
