Tythe is music tailor made for Sunday Best, with a slightly eclectic and blissful look-out at times but one that works really well when subtly varied in the course of an album, as it is here. ‘And Also With You’ is the work of one man, Julian Peck, but he gets in Merz for the album’s best vocal track, ‘Summerbelly’, which on first listen has some odd lyrics but because of that it sticks in the mind. Throughout there is a nice sense of rise and fall, with some firmer tracks like ‘Motorik’ – its name giving away a Krautrock influence – and softer asides like ‘Careless Woman’. Sunday Best declare this to be ‘your dancing alter ego’, which is a nice way of putting it – an album to get strongly acquainted with over the summer months, for sure.
