Following his stunning debut album on Soma, Alex returns to the Berlin-based label which helped start his unstoppable roll last year. After the album’s amazing diversity, it’s heads down and back to what he does best – skewed funk motored by subterranean glitches and oddball half-riffs. Unique and unearthly, cards are on the table with the ominous rumble of the opening ‘You’re A Bit Rough’ before the electro pulses start creeping into the metronomic hump of ‘Horizon’. ‘Gypo’ unfolds an inter-weaving web of corruscating rhythmic bends and sewer-melodies before ‘Neds’ takes it out low-slung and growling down a scary back alley. The sound of exploding creativity straining at the leash and chomping at the bit – albeit in restless, twitchy dream-state!
