A Bargrooves compilation is rather like a musical hot bath, and the luxurious double pack that makes up ‘Cosmopolitan’ is no exception. Ibiza’s Space seems to be the destination of Rollercone’s mix, a warm and funky house set with choice cuts from Louie Vega, Limbo Experience and Patchworks. Meanwhile the resident DJ Ben Sowton goes out on a jazzy tip, expanding from a deep opening to an uplifting close. It’s to Bargrooves’ credit that indulgences are kept to a minimum – you can have too many sax solos! – the end product being a collection well worth dipping your toes in ahead of the summer.
