‘Jazzmental’ implies a collection of bonkers saxophone solos for extended periods of beard stroking, but thankfully King Britt’s imaginative track selection is far more subtle. From the brush strokes of Cosmos’ Ennio Morricone remix ‘Come Maddalena’ to the classy offbeat house of Fertile Ground’s ‘Living In The Light’, there’s pretty much something for everyone. With room for extended tracks like Panic’s ‘Jam’, which opens up well from its off beat opening, Jazzmental is a rewarding and stimulating listen, with not a facial hair in sight!
