Full-length sources from which Massive Attack West Countrified; the timing and concept is a little out of the blue, along with concerns that no-one other than MT completists will give this the time of day. Otherwise, ‘Classics’ is a very fine standalone of sweet 70s & 80s soul, bringing William Devaughn, Al Green and Lowrell back to an un-pilfered fore with the experiments of Wally Badarou and The Mahavisnu Orchestra’s lock-in blues. The series is bound to run and run given that, save for one ‘Protection’ insert, ‘Volume One’ centres on ‘Blue Lines’ glory.
