SUBSIDENCE

TOUCHIN’ BASS

With emphasis on the SUB, Andrea Parker’s label consolidates its position as one of our most forward-thinking and compulsive labels with a collection of highlights and lowlifes that are often brand new rather than recycled tracks. Touchin’ Bass music pushes out the boundaries of electro with every release – often away from the party and into a back alley, or with the same dark energy as timeless assaults  like UR’s ‘Electronic Warfare’. Step forward such names as New York’s Secret Frequency Crew, Miami’s Alpha 606, LA’s Doctor Evil and RD, London’s Cultek, Plaid trading as Tura, Dave Tipper as Crunch and Andrea herself hitching up with the legendary David Morley to seismic effect. None of this music can be called easy listening or even floor-friendly unless you’re rolling on it. But it’s rivetingly atmospheric, spacially funked up and loaded with speaker-shagging bass frequencies. It’s electro, but not as we know it. That was the whole point of electro – keep using the technology to blaze new sonic trails. And never lose touch with the bass.
