Talk about wonderful. This kicks off with the funkiest hi-hats this side of ‘Shaft’ then evolves into something altogether more hypnotic while being quickly accompanied by an array of smoking organ hits. The drama continues with snappy snare drums and rimshots adding edge to the rhythm as insistent vocal stabs and soaring FX all make their presence truly felt on the excellent title track. The exotically flavoured ‘A Hot Drink In The Desert’ continues with tense marimba’s that soon exercise themselves in a most twisted fashion, with dark piano strikes and haunting atmospheres’ completing this must hear release for Poker Flat.
