Maars & Oswald aka Odd Parents open their new release for Ellum with the film referencing, ‘Leather Face’ and perhaps not surprisingly conjure up a set of sinister, darkly intense atmosphere’s that if you can stand the heat prove to be richly rewarding. Ignited by a gritty snare drum and moody keys this hints at the brooding menace of Belgium New Beat with its hypnotic electronics and is in a word excellent. The more deceptively sensual sounding, ‘After Glow’ follows although again hits you with nervous, jarring rhythms alongside brutally compelling beats which are as equally impactful on all five senses, especially when that unforgiving vocal line and crashing cymbal steps in!
