I haven’t been to Ibiza in a couple of years but listening to this cd reminds me its about time I flew in that direction once again. Pete Gooding has been synominios with San Antonios beachfront Café Mambo for some time now and when you recline in this selection of easy-beats and lush atmospheres it is patently obvious to understand why. Everyone from Art Of Noise, Lonnie Liston Smith, Plantlife and even Henry Mancinnis exquisite “Lujon” get a look in here as the grooves glide between ethnic flavours and jazzy inflections. Not everything’s mixed but then so what, its the music that speaks for itself here. The tempo picks up towards the end of CD 2 with Dos Hombres beautiful “Sestangol” and finishes with the breakbeat party of Ralph Myerz “Nastsha 75”. Avoid the trash and head straight for the beach and the goodlife.
