The Highwire blend of classic roots reggae and storming Geezeresque techno has gained an army of frothing devotees and this delirious little biscuit should stoke up the pressure a few notches. The A side is sparse and storming in that time-honoured RAW fashion, which accentuates the burbling ragga-chat interludes. It’s the flip which really pushes the boundaries with its clever interweaving of Althea and Donna’s huge ‘Uptown Top Ranking’ (slowed down) and a whirlpool of dub fx over a proper roots bassline for added speaker-demolition. Murder!
