Not needing much fanfare for seasoned club goers, Mark Rae brings us his latest eclectic collection, well known for mashing up a variety of eclectic styles to win over the most sober of dancefloors. Probably more popularly associated with hip-hop due to the Fat City / Manchester connection, Mr Rae casts his net far wider, incorporating soul, funk, breaks and leftfield funk. The result is original compositions like “Mind, Body & Soul”, UK talent like Vybz Kartel mashed with ARP, US MCs Rusty P’s rubbing up Buccaneer & Blaxx, Fingathing, Plastic Buddha, breakbeat don Tipper, Kraak & Smaak remixes of Mark Rae, Seiji’s superb “Loose Lips”, Stereotyp, Black Grass, etc. It’s unpredictable, never content to flirt with one style for more than one record at a time, and a thoroughly entertaining listen with it. Well worth picking up.
