Belgian DJ D’Stephanie finally breaks the all-blokes grip on the Jalapeno camp, she being the first female invited to release material for the label. And it’s a stupidly good double sider that’s well worth shouting about. “Rock The Disko” makes good use of an over-worn sample, giving it a new spin amidst a live sounding breaks backing and Philippo’s party starting lyrics. “Funk Up My Day” is a real surprise, though. It may find more fans in the deep house fraternity, given that it’s practically jazz-funk, continuing the live sound as singer Melissa adds some serious weight to the track, sparring with the guitar work. The result is a lovely, uplifting song experience which you’ll want to hear again and again. Huge recommendation!
