Pounding Grooves means Lawrie Immersion’s about, probably the most uncompromising and possibly underated of the acid techno party marauders. Lawrie’s merciless techno is easily up there with the mainstream circuit giants but he still prefers to operate closely with the S.U.F. crew and shove out aural napalm-feasts like this tenth missile for the embossed-vinyl Fresh Grind. Basically, Jan and Nimbus have cooked up two tracks – the minimal, tension-droning title cut and metallic, galloping ‘Dead Or Alive’. Then Lawrie has come along, thrown them into his sonic blender and emerged with one killer cut called ‘Cloned’. Here he mashes together the evil drone of the former and psycho-strings and malevolent banshee-shrieking of the latter into a gloriously seat-ripping slab of pure dark mayhem. The kids’ll love it.
