It says something for Soma that they’re now in their fifteenth year and many reckon it’s their best ever. Their always-anticipated annual compilation certainly doesn’t suggest otherwise as, nestling on the same disc, you find the gaggle of talent which has been relentlessly firing out nugget after nugget, seemingly on a roster of knockout punches. Silicone Soul, Vector Lovers, Alex Smoke, Hystereo, Funk D’Void and Phil Kieran and mighty uberlords Slam are all represented on CD,1 before Ewan Pearson steams in to make his mix album debut on CD2. Here he makes a personal selection from the 2005 output as well as throwing in hugely-exciting new signings Repeat Repeat, who look like storming the barricades next year. What can we say? Nobody does it better.
