You know what you’re going to get when you see ‘Backdraft’ printed on any label; quite simply THE dirtiest and darkest of the dirty and dark! The word compromise does not exist in their vocabulary! Nobody really does this sound any better than these two filthy northerners! There’s Horace Andy-esque dub vocal samples and yet again, one of the nastiest, grimiest basslines you’ll have heard for a while and rolling drum and bass style breaks. The B side is more of the same with massive ‘Amen’ action. They really are two of the nicest people you’re ever likely to meet! I simply can’t understand what happens behind the closed door of their studio. They must have some sort of ‘darkness potion’, to give them the notion to get into the grime-core motion, etc, mmm? maybe we should be MC’s. (Maybe not!) Anyway, more full-on quality from Backdraft.
