Back To Mine with Stuart King

1) Miles Davis – Kind of Blue – 1959

Miles Davis Kind Of Blue Full Album 1959

Regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time and greatest Jazz album of all time “Blue In Green” is a personal favourite, chilled and laid back, Jazz Meditation. Some of the solo’s on here are mind blowing, a masterpiece!

2) Loco Dice – Menina Brasiliera

Loco Dice - Menina Brasiliera

I never get tired of this track. I like music that transports me to another place, you can feel and visualise the summer and feel the heat of the sun bearing down on you when you listen to this track.

3) Zoot Woman – Don’t Tear Yourself Apart – Chopstick & Johnjon

Zoot Woman - Don't Tear Yourself Apart (Chopstick & Johnjon Remix)

My favourite remix by Chopstick & Johnjon, i love their productions. This track pushes me to another level emotionally, the melodies and vocals are sublime.

4) Matthew Herbet – It’s Only –   DJ Koze Remix

Matthew Herbert - It's Only (DJ Koze Remix)

A classic which never leaves my box, DJ Koze’s remix is genius, the is by far one of my favourite tracks. His production is insane, creating haunting, emotive, melodic textures in intricate and unique ways.

5) Armand Van Helden FT Tekitha – Mother Earth

Armand Van Helden ft. Tekitha - Mother Earth

I originally bought this on vinyl on the triple pack “2 Future 4 U ” Album. Armand was was ahead of his time, this track is 20 years old and still sounds fresh today. When that bass line kicks in and the powerful vocals of Tekitha are introduced the track takes on a life of it’s own. It creates a unique atmosphere in a club that only a handful of producers know how to achieve.

6) Trentemoller – Take me into your skin

Trentemøller: Take Me Into Your Skin

A masterpiece from his groundbreaking album “The Last Resort”, the production on this album is on another level.

7) Sebastein Tellier – La Ritournelle

Sébastien Tellier - La Ritournelle (Official Audio)

Pulls at the heart strings. A beautiful composition, I will let this track do the talking.

8) Whitest Boy Alive – Golden Cage Fed Faulke Remix

The Whitest Boy Alive - Golden Cage (Fred Falke Remix)

One of my favourite tracks with a fantastic remix from Fred Faulke. That killer bass line comes in with the vocals of Erlend Oye and the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. It’s a pure feel good track, every time i listen to this it puts a smile on my face.

9) Kavinsky – Nightcall

Kavinsky - Nightcall (Drive Original Movie Soundtrack) (Official Audio)

From the cult movie “Drive”, 80’s Daft Punk vibes grab you instantly in the intro. The verse and effect on the vocal take on a dark and menacing feel but then that sublime chorus comes in and its a thing of beauty.

10) Max Richter –   Sleep – Path 3

Max Richter - Path 3 (7676)

Taken from the genius composer Max Richter’s album Sleep, this is the standout track for me. The album is 8.5 hours long and composed around the neuroscience of our sleeping pattern. A beautifully haunting track, press play, sit back and pay attention to the soundscapes and moods he creates in this stunning work of art.

Stuart King – The Dead March (Rhythm Cult)

Paul Loraine’s Rhythm Cult gears up for a busy year of releases from Dinky, Sascha Dive, Reboot, Underground Sound of Lisbon, Hit & Miss and more starting with a cracking three tracker from Stuart King. King has been involved in dance music since the nineties, in that time his sound has always evolved and has included plenty of chart toppers with support from legends like Sasha & Digweed. A resident at Privilege (Ibiza), Warung Beach Club in Brazil and remixer of stars like Dirty Vegas, he has his own taste-making radio show on Frisky and here takes us deep into his own house universe.
Opener ‘The Dead March’ is a brilliantly broody tech cut that really pulls you into its dark atmospheres. The slick drums set the tone while a melancholic lead synth and tender, icy female vocal is the icing on the cake.
The cinematic ‘Make It Happen’ flips the script with chunkier house grooves and a molten acid line. It gives a clear nod to Chicago but rolls deep into the future with some tension-building breakdowns that will get the club ready to explode. Lastly, a Dead Dub of ‘The Dead March’ pares things back to warm grooves and chords with a whisper-like melody line that really casts a spell.
