Digital Jockey – Tranquillity
How far are you from a good sound system? I mean, a really good one?
Please get on it now and play this track, and possibly the whole album, from Digital Jockey. My ‘home alone’ time or long-train-rides favourite track.
Deep88 – Italo82
This is me driving my little car in the countryside of my hometown, Rimini. Windows down, sunglasses on, cruising to the best Piadina Restaurant in town!
Ale Ktv, as I have had Deep88 in my address book, is the good vibes vigilante: born and raised in Romagna, he’s the only guy who really pushed me to write music and develop my music skills, much more than getting stuck on the engineering part of it. ”No Surgical” was the motto: “less eqing, more soul!” Italo82 is the track which embodies all of these good vibes.
Lucio Battisti – Amarsi un po’
It’s very hard as an Italian to pick a single track from Lucio Battisti. I recommend listening to his full discography and make the effort to translate the lyrics, all written by Mogol.
Lucio is interleaved with my family memories, I use to sing out loud ”Acqua Azzurra, Acqua Chiara” or “Non è Francesca” with my Mum and Dad.
I mentioned my family and that’s why I picked ”Amarsi in pò”. I listen, sing and dance to this track with my wife Alessandra as much as I can.
Check out the English Version of the album “Io, Noi, Tutti” (Me, you, all of us) – sadly, the translation doesn’t really credit to the beauty of Italian poetry at its best!
Fila Brazillia – Soft Music Under Stars
space. Please enjoy this interstellar journey through sound.
Neffa – Gran Finesse
100% Italian Hip-Hop made in Bolo. Produced by Neffa. It was the Golden Era of Italian Hip-Hop. Neffa’s rap is so fine – he manages to produce such a good flow with meaningful lyrics.
Roni Size & The Reprazent – Brown Paper Bag
1997, just dropped the CD of ”The Fat of the Land” by the Prodigy into my Hi-Fi, practicing my rave moves! On the radio Alessio Bertallot with his show ”B-Side” was blasting Drum’n’Bass, Dub, Breakbeat, Garage and all that UK sound I love. I wanted a sampler and a Drum Machine badly. I picked Roni Size as a symbol of all the magic that happened in the 90’s for the electronic music scene. The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Massive Attack, Daft Punk, Portishead, Björk, Air, Autechre, Fatboy Slim, Slam and many more. Those were the soundtracks of my teenage years.
Washed Out – Belong
Lo-Fi, MC Cassette, 80’s retro looks, infinite loops and a catchy chorus. This track has stayed by my side since I first found it.
System Of Survival – Crash What
Alex & Bingo, aka SOS, have been my music mentors for almost a decade. I owe them most of musical knowledge (I should mention Dj Cirillo too). We worked hard together from 2009 to 2017, delivering one album on Bpitch Control (where you can find my remix as DOS for the track ”Nihil”), and a second album on Get Physical (again I have done a remix as DOS of “Kutting” with the divine voice of Vhelade). This track gives me goosebumps even after the trillion times I’ve listened to it whilst engineering it.
Missy Elliot – The Rain
Missy is one of the most influential artists in the Hip-Hop scene – the combination with producer Timbaland is explosive! I love a good dance and Missy Elliot serves you that with extraordinary charisma.
Alif Tree – I Feel Blue
My favourite electronic track: it’s the full package.
