Last year’s first in the ‘Pile-Up’ series firmly established Belgium’s Hi-Phen as a label to be reckoned with, a reputation cemented by this extremely fine follow-up. If anything, it’s an even stronger release, with Mugwump going for the jugular with funky electro-bass cuts like Danton Eeprom’s ‘Disko Trash’, the weird harmonies of Revolving Eyes’ ‘Going Through The Motions’ and the frankly sinister vocal that underpins ‘Trustlove’ of 100Hz. With a couple of pulsing house cuts from Brett Johnson, plus darkly atmospheric house to close from Keyo Industries, this is a cracking compilation.
