TEN YEARS OF STARBABY
STARBABY

Starbaby – the renowned label started in the US by French DJ-producer Stefan Manceau – celebrates ten years of exemplary releases with a four-track EP of rare and unreleased beauties. First up, the mighty Fabrice Lig sets the ball rolling with his 2001 and out-of-print ‘Last Eden’, a storming slice of Detroit techno with jazzy UR-style flourishes. Morgan Geist’s funky and jazzy ‘Please Try Again’ dates from the same year, before Fabrice again with the previously-unreleased ‘Free At Last’, which also harks to UR-style jazz-tech and brings in Martin Luther King’s famous speech to major effect. Finally, the bass takes over on John Tejada’s early gem ‘Ankh – Oudja – Seneb’, here in its Manceau remix form as the bass takes over for a euphoric finale. A fine, underrated label which deserves a massive cake.
