It’s a predictable format at the moment, the plundering of the dance back catalogue from the late ’80s and early ’90s, but Renaissance seem to be handling it better than most. Another airing for Candi Staton on ‘You Got The Love’ seems pointless, but when you’ve got Primal Scream, Saint Etienne, Sunscreem and N-Joi contributing the picture is much better. All three CDs are well mixed, too, which helps – and there’s a guarantee that among all the familiar club classics you’ll rediscover a lost gem or two. The comp of choice for those summer retrospectives.
