Has it really been ten years since the exploding acid techno scene gained the nearest thing that’s got to a no-holds-barred anthem? A decade since those raging 303s chomped at the nads of conservative dance music and flew the freak flag loud and proud. Since then, the scene has suffered through snobbiness and technological advancement stiffing out the twelve-inch lifeblood medium but now ‘London Acid City’ is back with its declaration of intent still ringing clear. Originals go for a ton so that’s here on one of the two discs, accompanied by a new Acid Techno mix by Lochi – Chris Liberator and Lawrie Immersion – which heavies it up and is possibly even more berserk. The Pounding Grooves reworking takes it in a more minimal, scrotum-tickling direction, while Lochi’s Acid house treatment goes back to the old school with deadly consequences. A mighty package.
