Anjunabeats is turning into one of the best trance labels around, so it’s great to report the new ‘Worldwide’ compilation confirms that. Super8 & Tab deliver handsomely on their mix, plotting a course for darker beats that threaten to turn nasty when the likes of Andy Moor and Above & Beyond are involved. Marc Pledger softens the treble a bit, his cooler approach offset by pumping rhythms. There’s also a mighty fine breakdown or two, such as the floaty piano on Above & Beyond’s ‘Tri-State’, remixed by Robert Nickson, or the massive ‘Shift’ which pits Mike Koglin against Alex Morph. It’s good to be reminded that UK trance DJs are still right up there with their Dutch and German counterparts.
