After two years it’s time for the first label compilation from Systematic, who by all accounts have had a cracking year. Stephan Bodzin’s mix showcases their trademark take on house, dark and moody beats and bass tinged with electro. Marc Romboy features large, his collaborations with Blake Baxter (‘Freakin’), Booka Shade (Every Day In My Life’) and Bodzin himself (‘Phobos’) all excellent. John Dahlback’s haunting ‘Ooh oh i e’ opens things up, and later on Abysm’s ‘Future Love’, the label’s bestseller, provides the forward drive for the closing section. Superbly mixed and produced, this is a fine report on the German label’s progress to date.
