After collaborating with Percy X in last years’ Separatists album, Marco Bernardi goes it alone as Octogen, with compelling results. His style tends to be slightly inward looking techno, carefully put together but with a transparent quality, shown best in cuts like the vocal ‘Cside’ or the less catchy titled ‘ACIEOB’. Later on he allows the rhythms to cut loose rather more, and blends electro sounds to give the album structure and depth. Clearly a master technician, Bernardi makes music of rare beauty, surprisingly warm at heart.
