To celebrate 25th releases on SOH, label boss Johan (aka Jariten) has enlisted the production talents of Dan F to join him in crafting a heavy bit of breakbeat quirkiness. The five track celebration of label longevity sees the bearded Swedish one draft in remixes from a good cross section of the break fraternity. The EP kicks off with the jacking, heavy, linear funk of Dopamine which works well and sounds distinctive enough to put it head and shoulders above most current offerings. Backdraft rip the arse out of it as usual and turn in a typically dirty bastard remix. They really are the king and queen of filth and where Dopamine’s mix was heavy, this is ‘Guinness Book of Records’ obese and needs a crane to lift it of the decks when you’ve played it! The original version is a kind of Oriental-meets-Scandinavian brew of delicate synths and cinematic textures. Neztic turns in a rolling funk version with ‘real’ breakbeats and plenty of ivory tinkling to introduce a sophisticated level of relaxation to the package. Hi 8 completes the line-up with an electro-tech soundtrack to a journey into a far-eastern neon city in the eighties.
