The first EP of 2007 on Trevor Rockcliffe’s label actually features Intec label manager Jon Rundell sporting the production strides recently displayed on the label’s ‘Dirty Disco’ EP [which unfortunately not many have heard cos it’s online only]. This EP is firmly in the classic house tradition of setting up a groove then garnishing it with a stabbed in cheeky sample. ‘Saxual’ is jacking and minimal with an old hiphop clip. Over barrelling ‘French Kiss’-type bassline, ‘Trompette’ uses filtered-up trumpets, while the most audacious bite is saved for last as ‘Future Funk’ uses the same funk sample so effectively utiilised by Todd Terry as Orange Lemon on ‘Dreams Of Santa Anna’ [the Beginning Of The End’s ‘Funky Nassau, I think]. Simple whoopee harking back to another age [in some ways].
