If you saw D & W at Breakin’ Ground back in December you will know their live shows, complete with MCs, live drums, decks and computers effects, are crammed full of electro-funk, high octane energy and if you’re lucky you might be treated to some booty shakers too. This mix CD represents what’s been doing it for them in their live / DJ sets around the globe. A journey through booty slammin’ classics, dubbed out breaks and low ridding, skanking riddims and some rocky guitar breaks too. It’s hard to get a compilation to stand out but they have definitely done that here. There’s plenty of electro booty bass, breaks action, but also the sound of Rat’s own Ivory care of ‘The Wolf’ – all sneering, punk rock attitude and breakbeat, jungle, rave guitars and the exclusive from D & W vs Fresh, ‘Steam’ a sort of 2 tone ska track, with Ivory’s punk snear drawl and Spyda on vocals, an innovative track that will be huuuge! Top Cat hosting on the CD is just the right amount, and he does more than MC, it’s more a case of actually singing in parts which he does to perfection on SOTO’s (who they?) ‘Ghetto Blast Ya! Another exclusive is the Deekline & Ed Solo future classic ’One In the Front’ with DJ Assualt on vocals, a perfect pimped up piece of 80’s US electro bootybass. This CD showcases the duos love of breaks, electro, booty, grime, ragga and punk rock and and their signature top notch production. Quality!
