There is little left in trance that can surprise yet the power of a good chord progression, solid arrangement, wide production and pumping oomph make it work once again (if you can cope with the Danni Minogue soundalike on vocals). Indeed Van Dyk, who’s always claimed his love for eighties Manc bands New Order and The Smiths, still knows how to dish out decent synth-pop music. Although his mixes are only subtly different, the German dj has a good ear for melodies (the Berlin mixes – the L.A. mix being slightly more full-on). Twisted yet fairly generic electro-house mixes (with a pinch of trance) from Dave Spoon and Aural Float.
