Surely the best possible choice for the next in the excellent ‘At The Controls’ series, Claude Von Stroke steps up to the decks for two very different mixes. The first majors on his ‘Dirty Bird’ sound and includes plenty of humour alongside the jacking rhythms. Tracks like 3 and 4 have wonderful synthesizer play, while there’s an outing for the big tune of the moment, Simim’s accordion frenzy ‘Heater’. The second CD is deeper and more inward looking, with Kenneth Graham easing chilled beats into the fray before Lee Curtis and the atmospheric Swayzak cut ‘Break In At Apartment 305′ make a strong impression. There’s still room for a touch of madness though, as the Italoboyz’ ‘Viktor Casanova’ cuts up its own opera sample. Strongly individual in both mixes, Von Stroke’s mixes demand to be heard – immediately.
