A nicely realised collection of sounds that manages to wander across about
forty years of musical history, from 60’s psychedelic harmonised pop to late
70’s west coast vibes, with the occasional electronic wig-out and Eno /
KLFstyle wide-eyed musical landscape moment. Matt Coldrick is Pan Electric,
and he’s brought on board Neil ‘Zero 7’ Cowley & legendary session guitarist
BJ Cole, who help to give it the musical structure and narrative that many
releases of this nature lack. Difficult to pick a highlight as it’s not
that kind of album – it really does work best as one whole – but this could
be the ideal balm for ears tired of the relentless attention grabbing antics
of club speakers.
