This could well be Steve Lawler’s finest mix album to date, which is quite a
tribute after the ‘Lights Out’ series that received so much praise for
Global Underground. ‘Viva London’ has typically muscly beats, but Lawler’s
mixing is superb, and the way in which he blends tracks by Luke Hess,
REshuffle, Nils Noa and the chilling Danton Eeprom ‘To The Bone’ is
outstanding. CD2 is slightly quicker and pauses for a spaced-out breakdown
with Bushwacka!’s ‘Long Distance’, before picking up more urgency with
Lawler’s own ‘Violet’, which shows him to be gaining kudos as a producer.
This is tough, techy house that satisfies all lower end requirements, if you
get my drift!
