The first volume of Computer Incarnations For World Peace looked at obscure electronic delicacies from that early 80s period when disco was proclaimed dead but it’s spirit lived on in the machines. Volume 2 brings the same principle up to date to look at the new breed of synth-warriors who, over the last few years, have gone back to go forward, fearlessly foraging with the cosmic disco movement. Once again Running Back Records boss Gerd Janson has whipped up a wide and varied spread though much hovers around the 110bpm mark, taking its time to unfurl hallucinogenic pebbledashery accompanied by choral hooks or chants. The album gets off the launch-pad with an instrumental version of Lexx’s Mahogany before Norway enters the fray with Todd Terje and Prins Thomas covering Cloud One’s Don’t Let My Rainbow Pass Me By, one of the genre’s most sought-after rarities as only 60 were pressed! Another highlight is Maurice Fulton’s sublime remix of Rollmottle’s Take A Break while Ray Mang’s To And Fro borrows the intro from the Beach boys’ Do It Again with steel drums. Ewan Pearson’s mate Al Usher unzips the sonic sausage roll by which time it’s already apparent that this new strain of music is firing on all cylinders.
