Transitions 4 Mixed By John Digweed
Renaissance

John Digweed’s culminating volume of the four part, two year ‘Transitions’ series is, as you’d expect, the most fluid piece of mixing you could possibly imagine. There are ten tracks, yet Digweed uses twenty-two records in a carefully textured blend that, in typical style, builds through from ambient beginnings to become a fully powered set of house music. Things are really up and running by the time he combines Nightguy, Henry Saiz and Myers Briggs, though with increasing power added to the bass and atmospherics, the combination of Sian, Kim Runic and the Jet Project’s remix of Two Lone Swordsmen’s ‘Shack 54’ proves quite a draw. He’s still pushing the boundaries then – culminating with the sweep of Pig & Dan and Emmanuel, this is a mix that judges the build up of intensity to perfection.
