From the intro, you know that ‘compromise’ is probably not a word in The Wrongstars’ vocabulary. The sound is raw and honest and you know that there’s been time spent in many dark, cavernous rooms getting mashed up to some seriously filthy and grimy sounds. This is reflected in the observational lyrics and stories they tell – The Wrongstars have lived this music! There’s a lot of tongue in cheek jibes that hint at their unwillingness to pretend to be something they’re not, and at others who are happy to be whatever anyone wants to be! This is not going to be for everyone – but that’s kind of the point! There’s a lot of hard, dark breakbeats that are the sound of disaffected young men, and there’s some quite unexpected tracks that really work well and make you realise that these guys have something to say in many different musical languages including a proper live guitar band feel, to boot. The guys live could be very exciting.
