Mark Broom
Black Russian EP
2020 Vision

Since first emerging in the early 90s on GPR Recordings [which also unleashed the early Black Dog projectiles], Mark Broom has gradually built a name as one of the UK’s finest techno producers, appearing on labels like Soma, Bpitch, Mo Wax, Cocoon, Music Man and the Pure Plastic he set up in 1994 with Dave Hill. The next notch on his bulging discographical bedpost is, maybe surprisingly, signing to 2020 Vision, one of our finest proper house labels. On the other hand, both parties are about no bullshit great music which moves forward at the same time as blowing the knackers off the nearest buffalo. Mark’s debut for the label presents three killers which fuse classic techno elements like the Basic Channel-style juggernaut riffage of the title cut, with modern production techniques like the minimal scuttle of ‘Riddim’. ‘Bounce’ also injects dub reggae elements against a malevolent electronic drone. So, a marriage made in heaven which looks like it’s going to work!
