Not conventional territory for Ministry of Sound, this – but it fills a gap in the market by bringing together a fine selection of slower disco and shoegaze-influenced tracks and calling them ‘Nu Balearica’. Getting Fred Deakin in was something of a masterstroke, as he not only produces a couple of mixes notable for their hazy warmth and subtly uplifting deepness, but has also had a say in the artwork it seems. So it’s a highly desirable package that, once opened carefully, brings forth the talents of A Mountain Of One, Lindstrom, Prins Thomas, Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve and Todd Terje among others. Very fine indeed.
