Martin Wheeler’s fourth album is looming and it should be a belter if this is anything to go by. His sound continues to stampede along the techno trail, the title cut unfolding and building for ten minutes with rhino’s shaft-thick chords, shades of early 90s Frankfurt in the embellishments and fabulous drum programming, all over a major hazard of a bassline. ‘Pin Tweaks’ injects electro-funk elements and melodic riffage while ‘Reminisce’ is just gorgeous with emotional strings, melon-friendly textures and firing pads. Martin’s stuff is always great and forward-pushing but, incredibly, he still seems to improve with every release.
