Marco Bernardi’s Gindofask album was yet another refinement of his deadly take on the classic Detroit sound: soulful, soaring and sparkling. ‘The Journeyman’ is one of the standout tracks so has been rightfully plucked out for 12-inch status, here proud and erect with the original’s deep magic joined by a belting rework by Orlando Voorn, who injects UR flickers and bottomless ricochet effects. To make this a fearsome double-header, Marco revisits ‘Square Bells’ from earlier in the year. His Robotic Disease Mix uncorks pattering electro frequencies and an arresting Motor City shimmer which is handed to Miami’s Gosub [who Marco worked with on Frustrated Funk]. His Key Wst Mix inspired by the Seven Mile Bridge linking Key West Florida to the mainland islands is seven minutes of dense alien funk peppered with dreamy scrabblings. The juggernaut path of one of the current monsters of techno continues unobstructed, even by masturbating squirrel hordes.
