London Elektricity
Syncopated City
Hospital

Make no mistake, this is a wonderfully energetic and uplifting album, reinforcing the opinion of London Elektricity as being at the forefront of drum & bass in this country. ‘Syncopated City’ is a lot more colourful than its cover art suggests, and gets off to a cracking start with the strings and piano of ‘Bare Religion’. The vocals are particularly strong on this album, whether from Tony Colman himself, his regular collaborator Liane Carroll, who joins him in a striking unison on ‘Outnumbered’, or Elsa Hedberg. The braying horns of ‘All Hell Is Breaking Loose’ are a highlight, as are the emotive vocals of ‘This Dark Matter’. An imaginative use of brass and strings, coupled with some upfront drum tracks, add to the list of elements that make this a great record, full of vigour.
