If you’ve been following this excellent Platipus series, you’ll be well aware of the pedigree in previous releases from The Orb, System 7, Jon Hopkins and Altitude. Here Bent keep the inventive side of the format going, with Simon taking CD1 and introducing an eight minute classical piece by Ravel, a moment where time seems to stand still before the beats appear again. Band-mate Nail takes on the second CD, a longer mix including seasoned chillout favourites Craig Armstrong and Dot Allison, but itself introducing some quirks and invention from The Bulgarian Female Vocal Choir and The Natural Yoghurt Band. Don’t worry, it’s not hippy navel gazing! More like a gorgeous selection of late night music, from a series of which Platipus can be justifiably proud.
