Slam never seem to stop pursuing their electronic dance music passions and, having had a brilliant 2008, continue to pile on the pressure with plans to release four 12-inches by the summer. The first is a monster which sees the mighty Joris Voorn, about to unleash his own phenomenal mix album, injecting ‘Ghost Song’ with a contagious Detroit feel, building gradually after the lengthy drum intro with metallic stabs, spectral organ and blankets of strings. A sweeping, swirling classic which worked a treat around three o’clock on Sunday morning! New producer Prompt, first heard on Slam’s Sci-Fi Hi-Fi set with ‘Evolve’ before they gave it one of their sublime reworks, returns the favour by stripping the track down to a sparking minimal fun-fest. You can always rely on Slam and it’s even better when they’ve got likeminded co-conspirators on board.
