The all-star collaboration of David Guetta, Steve Angello, Joachim Garraud, Sebastien Ingrosso and Chris Willis kick off at the latest stop on Hed Kandi’s world tour, starting a first CD of heavy set house music. In truth it doesn’t have an awful lot to do with Brazil, so if you’re expecting vibrant samba rhythms you might have to look elsewhere. It does however feature the clarinet of Steve Angello’s ‘Gypsy’, which sounds a bit odd to say the least, while stronger cuts on CD1 include the smooth Hardsoul remix of David Penn & Darren J Bell’s ‘Revolution’ and the bony textures of Gui Boratto’s piano-fuelled ‘No Turning Back’. CD2 injects a bit more soul and spirituality to the house proceedings, with Chanel’s ‘If You Love Me’ powering past in Steve Smart/Danny Dove remix form, while Heller & Farley’s ‘Ultra Flava’ also gets a largely unnecessary retread from Jerry Ropero and Micaehl Simon. Not one for the cheese-ophobics, but a solid vocal house double nonetheless.
