Black Rio 2: Original Samba Soul 1971-1980 Compiled By DJ Cliffy

Dave Seaman’s Audio Therapy imprint is making steady headway as a reliable purveyor of quality house, and this second label mix compilation does the job as many a Seaman mix has in the past. While the first minute of Glenn Morrison’s ‘Orange Glow’ eases us in it’s beats to the floor from then on, as Seaman concentrates on building the blocks. Oliver Moldan’s ‘Club 69’ sounds quite sparse in its Dibby Dougherty mix, but leads to the cracking ‘Legacy’ from Infusion, mixed by Simon & Shaker. Two of Seaman’s own productions are included towards the end – a collaboration with Josh Gabriel (‘Hayaah’) and an original (‘Gobbledygook’), both show stealers in their integration of tribal samples and rock solid beats. Excellent stuff from a quality house label going from strength to strength.
