Robert Hood
Superman / Range
M-Plant

It’s been great this year to see Robert hood return to take his place at the top of the techno tree with the deluxe reissue of Minimal Nation and reactivation of his M-Plant label then, to show he’s not resting on his sequencers, new minimal mosnters in the form of the recent ‘Obey’/’Resurrection’ single and now this fresh belter. Trunks will detonate and funk glands swell as a serious kick-charge is established on ‘Superman’ as racey synth motifs dogfight in typical simple-but-deadly fashion. The handclaps are an art in themselves. The deeper ‘Range’ sets up morphing organ pulses to hypnotic levels before the intricate subtleties [like the hihats] weaving through make their presence felt, driving the energy level upwards and onwards. Masterfully executed.
