Supported by everyone from Sven to Carl Cox to Joris Voorn to Steve Rachmad, Jeroen ‘Secret Cinema’ Verheij is a massively influential producer (especially in his native Holland) and is someone who continues to conjure up genuinely thrilling and innovative music. Perhaps best-known for his work at his always-on-point GEM Records label, Secret Cinema is on something of a purple patch recently, with his last EP, the brilliantly received Séance EP again earning rave reviews across the board. Originally from Rotterdam but now firmly based in Amsterdam, he is arguably in the finest form of his two-decade long career and is recently reaping the benefits of his new studio in the city. We caught up with him recently, as he talked us through his favourite Back 2 Mine tracks…
Usually we come home and start playing some vinyls from my collection. Mostly dreamy trippy wax that gives a warm feeling. So I did just that, just grabbed some vinyls and I made this selection.
Jeremy – Where the Heart Is
This is such a warm and deep release. It makes you feel at ease anywhere. Home…is where the heart is.
Moodmusic – Unreleased vol 5 – It’s a Dawgs Life
Both sides do well as an easy mix in between any record.
Evigt Mörker – Högre
Dreamy as I love it. Nice build up and not forcing any weird vibes at any point at all. Love it!
Raär – Santori
A bit of old school vibes always work, although this is a fairly new release. Fits perfectly in any homely after vibe.
Aphrodisiac – Song of The Siren
Deep spaced out niceness, just always brings pleasure to the mood.
Choice – Acid Eiffel
One of my all time fav’s, happy to have this in my collection. And a good start for any after.
Slack City – Detox (Hot Lizard remix)
This one just never fails. Sleezy, juicy riffs on a great groove for a solid after glow.
